Scripture Union 'Light' material
Each Sunday as part of our Worship the children start in Church for about 20 minutes. We then all go out to separate activities split by age group using the Light material from Scripture Union. A brief description of each group is shown below

Crèche 0 - 3 years

For the very youngest a crèche is run all through the service.

Bubbles 3 – 5 years

'Bubbles' for 3-5 year olds
Children aged 5 and under are bubbling with life; everything is new, exciting and just waiting to be discovered. They are in the busiest time of their lives when they will learn more than at any other time and, crucially, when their brains establish learning pathways. They are receptive to God, to hearing him in ways that many of us have lost as we have grown up and to having the sort of faith that Jesus wants us all to have.

Splash 5 – 7 years

'Splash' for 5 -7 year olds
Children aged 5 to 8 love to play together, be creative, use their energy, explore new ideas and enjoy old favourites. They have a great capacity for friendship and empathy for anyone in trouble. They can have a depth of spirituality which can be both matter of fact and breathtaking. Splash! will help you encourage your 5 to 8s in their daily lives with God.

Xstream 8 – 11 years

'XStream for 8 - 11 year olds
Children aged 8 to 11 like to have fun! They like to be with their friends and are growing increasingly independent. Most still like the opportunity to play games and to be creative, but they will shy away from anything that feels too babyish. Their capacity to learn is enormous and most can read quite well. Feed their imaginations with Xstream and allow them space to ask the questions about the things that younger children take for granted. Xstream encourages 8 to 11s to live their daily lives for God.

Child Protection and Safety

We believe that every person, however young or old, is of equal importance and value to God. Our aim in Junior Church is to provide a safe and happy environment in which we can encourage our children to learn and grow in their individual faith.

We take the welfare of the children in our care very seriously. It is assumed (unless we are informed otherwise) that an adult carer is on the premises for the duration of the children’s programme. Handover of children and the collection from activities remains the responsibility of the Carer.

A Child Protection Policy is in operation under the guidelines set out by the Baptist Union. All children’s workers are CRB checked and the Church has appointed both male and female advocates.
